Rule?: Wearing White After Labor Day
We had a consultation today where our client had the opportunity to where something white, and it looked great with what he was wearing…problem is that the event is Sept 3!! Oh no, it’s after Labor Day, you’re not supposed to wear white right? WHO CARES!! In my opinion, rules-schmules! Who needs em right? Truth be told, some fashion rules are meant to be adhered to unless you’re wanting to dress like your favorite pop star. The cool kids break the rules anyway. The after Labor Day “white rule” seems a little outdated, so I say, “Go ‘head and where your white.” You can get away with this as long as you’re not wearing a white top and bottom, it’s a little much don’t ya think?…unless you’re the groom of your wedding. So go ahead and mix that white shirt with those dark pants, and that dark shirt with those white shorts or pants. Look here, don’t worry if I see you breaking the “rule”, your secret is safe with me!

HOW TO ROLL YOUR SLEEVES…like an Italian gentleman.
Ok, maybe you’re not interested in being Italian…or a gentleman for that matter, but this is one of the sharpest ways to roll up your sleeves. This technique will come in handy on these hot, humid days and it’s definitely something you need to learn. No diss or anything, but President Obama doesn’t even know how to correctly roll his sleeves..just saying’! Watch the video, learn, and most importantly put the technique into practice…you’re bound to have a couple of ladies comment on how dashing you look!

We don’t know where your residence is, but we live in LA! No, not Los Angeles, but rather Louisiana! For those of you who don’t already know, a Louisiana summer is characterized by blazing temperatures and humidity so dense that I’m sure my body has considered growing a set of gills. It’s no joke down here, so it’s no surprise staying cool and looking cool can be a bit of a problematic issue for most guys. But it doesn’t have to be a Catch-22! We like to take what we call the “skyscraper approach”. Just like a skyscraper is nothing without it’s foundation underneath, the pieces in your day-to-day summer wardrobe will soon diminish to nought if you don’t first take care of what’s underneath. No one ever wants to look like they’ve been swimming in chest-deep water when they really haven’t! It’s super simple and may seem like a no-brainer, but it works:
1. Pay that little extra for a good antiperspirant/deodorant. Not a spray or a gel, but a solid. How well the deodorant keeps you from sweating and how long it lasts is more important than the smell.
2. Where a good undershirt. The Hanes five-pack is great for quantity, but lacking in quality because of how thin the shirts are. Wear a good undershirt, whether cotton or blend, and you’ll save the shirt you’re wearing on top. And fellas, if you plan on showing a lil skin, v-necks (regular or deep) and scoop necks are game.
3. HYDRATE…’nuff said.

What’s wrong with this picture?? ….absolutely NOTHING!
Most guys like to stick with one style that suits them, but I’m here to let you know that you are not a one trick pony. You are very versatile! Switch the swagg up from time to time. Envision yourself sporting a different look…the key word here is “envision”. Until you mentally wrap your head around being confident sporting a different style for the evening or event, it won’t work for you. If you don’t prepare mentally you’ll look like that “awkward kid” who looks like he put on whatever his girlfriend told him to. Nobody wants that, right? Again, switch it up! People get tired of seeing the same episode of re-runs every night, it’s time to launch a new season! As always, if you have any questions, just “Ask the Thomas Bros”.

In this blog I’d like to address an issue that I feel is very important and that all guys should examine. Classic vs Fad has always been an interesting subject to tackle. Classics are classics for a reason, they stand the test of time. No, they aren’t just the clothes worn by affluent white people, but the classic image is everlasting. My advice for guys is to just “indulge” and not to highly “invest” into fads. My case in point, as of recently the “snap back” hats have become super popular. A couple years ago, wearing a trucker hat would have been kinda low-key lame on the slick. Now, you see snap backs EVERYWHERE! My question is this, what happened to the guys that bought hundreds of fitted caps? {pause and think for a sec…}smh. Fads are like light switches that can turn off at any moment. My motto is to keep it clean, simple, and classic…and remember, it’s ALL about the fit! As always, if you have any questions, just “Ask the Thomas Bros”
